Give-away! Win a brand new HTC One!

Edit: 9.10.2013
The contest is now closed. I'm trying to reach the first randomly selected person to confirm if he (yes, it's "he") has a Twitter account and he entered the contest properly.

If he won't answer me within next 24 hours I will pick another winner. Stay tuned and check your Google Hangouts ;)

Here comes another give-away! This time the winner will get a brand new HTC One. Previously, a brand new HTC One X+ in a limited white colour went to Barry.

This give-away is international, which means everyone from around the world can enter and win! HTC One is also supported by Android Revolution HD on XDA Developers Forum under this link.

Why HTC One?

Because it's still the best Android device you can find on the market. HTC partnered with Robert Downey Jr. (RDJ) on a series of #HTChange videos that only he could come up with. To enter the contest, you need to visit first a short RDJ change video  available here - http://s.htc.com/1fKG6Rr

Rules
  1. Watch this video - http://s.htc.com/1fKG6Rr
  2. In the comments section beneath this post answer one of these two questions:
    1. what would you like to change in the Android OS?
    2. what was the most important change in your life? You might use just a few words, but you might come up with a whole story too.
  3. Share this give-away announcement on Twitter (short link: http://goo.gl/Hfq5d2) using the #RevolutionChange hashtag - this is very important for us to see you actually entered the contest!

The winner will be picked randomly on Wednesday, October 9th 2013.

Prize

As mentioned above, it's a brand new HTC One in a variant of your choice (GSM or GSM+LTE).

Good luck everyone!

  1. I would love to see Android slimmed down even more, even as it is it can sometimes feel a bit slow. It's blown iOS out of the water with features, but iOS still dominates with it's speed.

  15. the most important change in my life, was after years of drinking much alcohol and smoking up to 3 packages of cigarettes per day, to change these things, it was not easy going, sometimes i fell back into my old behaviours, until i moved to my new flat, because their my neighbour made me start running, at first it was suffering, but as i did continously go out for a run when wanting to smoke or drink a beer i kept feeling better and better, until today i do my runs to support my health. that was the best and most important change in my life! btw i use for two years now runtastic pro on my android to track my runs, therefore i would like to change in android that there are better widgets for health and running on it :-)

  16. I hope android OS gets granular volume controls and fixes the microlag.

  17. I'd like to see it more efficient, so better battery saving all round along with a smoother overall OS; making less powerful devices more fluid and better on a day-to-day basis.

Also, I'd like to be able to dock it like a desktop or into a laptop shell to turn it into a PC like device as Motorola once tried, I think they're almost ready for that sort of transition and could be a future for replacing the need for multiple devices.

  23. 1. I would like to get the option to change things in the UI without the need to root the device. For example, changing the DPI right from the settings and the whole UI should work without FC or something. One more thing that I would like to change is the lockscreen, we need something fresh, beautiful and new, like the lockring in Sense 4 , or water ripple in TouchWiz - we need something cool to Stock Android OS too :)

  24. 1) I would change nothing, really. Long time ago I had a Nokia 3330. Suddenly, mp3 devices came out. On that period I thought "Why not making a device with all those things together?". Well, Android has gone beyond my imagination, and today I'm able to do everything I wish with my device, they did all I asked and much much more. I just can't imagine a feature to add to this OS.

    2) My greatest change in my life was changing university. It may be a normal thing for most of people, but for me it has been a decisive choice as i switched from inforatic engineering to nautic engineering. In the end I'm very happy about the choice i did since I'm doing a thing that I actually like, and the informatic knowledge helped me a lot in many situations :)

  25. I would like android to have a bit more sofisticated UI

    ReplyDelete
  26. What I would like to see changed in Android is the UI. Android needs a simpler, more beautiful user interface. Something like Sense UI would be nice.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Most important change? Getting married and having kids - mind blowing every day.
What I would change in Android? I would change the share dialogue. It should work more like the HTC version. Show a list of 5 or so most used apps and a button for more. I have a ton of apps and don't want to search a massive lost every time I want to share. Maybe even make the first five a favorites you're thing.

    2. From a day to day perspective one of the greatest changes in my lifestyle was getting an android smartphone. I have become tech dependent and am now heavily dependent on Sygic GPS, Calender, Camscanner, Phone email and Phone storage (instead of carrying a separate USB thumb drive). The amount of things that I used to use my laptop for have gone down maybe by 60%.

  61. 1.what would you like to change in the Android OS?

opinion: i would like to see Android os less bulky...less lag...more user friendly and smooth UI...more importantly less uses of Ram...i always observed Os keep almost 50% Ram in normal use..and less restriction to use custom roms, kernels etc...for example user with Hboot 1.54 in Htc smartphone cant s-off right now,,,

2.what was the most important change in your life?

Every moment, everything in the universe changes, whether we come to know or not. Change is the most important aspect in the world. Especially living beings like us change mentally, physically, intellectually, etc. Change makes life go forward. What is there in a life where there is no change. But we should see that whatever change takes place should be for the better, not otherwise.
it may not seems a big deal to everyone but for me i was a big move...yup..i stopped drinking...i got my true love when i was in college..she makes my life heaven..i promised her i won't drink after our relationship...but somehow i slipped i started to become alcoholic again...after few month she found out and the result was devastating..she trusted me so much she couldn't take it lightly...she tried to suicide...but luckily she survived...when i saw her in hospital bed..struggling to life...crying....then i realized what life is,,,,its not about what you like...it is about what makes you happy,,,alive...i sat beside her in the hospital and hold her hand...then i said " i will never make you cry again " when she was sleeping...after few days she went to her home...wouldn't contact with me...i tried several times...then i taught may b i don't deserve her...so i stooped pushing...after 6month one day she called then started crying...i didn't know what to say...after that day..my life become so much good and happier...our 4th anniversary is on next February...thnx everyone....

P.S:Her Birthday is in next October,,,,so i could really use a Brand new Htc one...thnx :) :) God Bless.....

  62. I would love to see android os be more minimalistic in terms of theme to have a more classy look as compared to the current theme (too colorful just like ios) and also improve the fluidity of the entire android os just like ios. Switching from apple to android phone was the most significant change in my life (in terms of gadgets). Android os is very flexible and endless customization.

  63. (1) The thing I'd like to change the most about Android is how manufacturer skins can be embedded so deeply on top of the OS. Google can/should accept this, and find a way to create an easy sandbox + skin API for those manufacturer skins so it can be toggled off for an AOSP experience if desired.

    (2) The biggest change of my life so far was moving away from my parent's house and into somewhere different. I actually had the privilege of staying in the house I grew up in while my parents moved out. A certain time after that, my parents wanted to move back in so I had to move out. All that extra time in 1 place made it harder to endure going out on my own, but it was always rewarding.

  64. 1. If Samsung would hire me I would definetily consider working on lag-free os. Android is a perfect os, but because so many phones are running on it, there are a lot of versions of it and some of them have more bugs. I would also consider hiring some developers from XDA and CM series, it would make Android more open and laggfree.
    2. The biggest change in my life was when I switched to an Android phone. It's really compact and open to everybody (customazible). My dream job is to work for a company like htc, samsung or lg, I really would like to donate my piece of opinion into this AOSP.

  69. 1: What would you like to change in the Android OS?

I like custom ROMs with all the bells an whistles and my husband whats something that just works. I would like to see devices the come out striped of the junk (bloat apps, junk code, etc), from the start. That would make a perfect phone for DH, and I wouldn't have to mess with his. 77. I think one essential issue that Android has to adress right now is the lack of a personal, emotional and most of all, 'real' connection with it's users. There is no unity between different brands of phones that run Android, even though they all have the same (Android) heart.
This is I think (partly) because "Android" as a brand, or entity, has no charactaristics which can be described (or rather experienced) as human. For me it feels too much as if it's just one of the many products that come out of the Google machine, wherein everything is ruled by algorithms, rather than human emotions.
You see it with Windows, there are hundreds of different PC brands, but all the users normally know is that they have a Windows computer. This is what makes it so strong and more important, it's what connects people with the brand and with other Windows users, no matter what the brand of their PC hardware is.

The good thing about Android is that it's part open-source, so in theory anyone could develop such a concept. Companies like HTC and Samsung could use this weakness to take over the whole OS and it's users.

Face Unlock feature should be removed.

  80. Biggest change would be for Android to move over to the desktop platform as well.

    ReplyDelete
  81. It would be great it AndroidOS would be more customizable :) Just things like icons, transparity, transitions and making more use of the built in sensors.

    ReplyDelete
  82. 1. I'd like to change the Android OS because :
    - The heavy OS, Android IMO still consumes a lot of RAM.
    - Android OS still have some crashes occasionally.
    - Android OS original doesn't support tablet mode, and a lack of standards for tablet apps.
    - The update cycle is too quick for OEMs to keep up, the OS should be taken more care when upgrading.
    - A new more friendly native interface, native icons should be redesigned => set a new standard for devs to work with.
    - Android OS keyboard should support more languages and the methods of typing.
    - An offical advanced power menu, I know devs have been working on this but an offical one would be great.

    2. The most important thing that changed my life is getting a smartphone - a brand new HTC One X. I felt in love with the One X the first time I saw it, and it began to change the way I interact with the world. So after a few weeks I decided to root the device, and the first custom Rom that I installed was ARHD, and I still using ARHD now, team ARHD is awesome, you guys makes my One X better ! I set my eyes one the One as soon as it became official but due to the limit budget ( I'm still a student ) that I can't afford one, but my One X is doing very well.

If I'm given the One I would be very grateful, thanks for reading.

  83. I'd like to see a better improvement on the use of the resources, the phones with a less powerful hardware doest offer a real experiences of android is, and this could be the next step.

The things that I really like about android is freedom, there is nothing like this in the market, you have thousand of possibilities with an android phone.

  84. 1. Change to Android, let's see, while I enjoy mostly HTC's customization, Vanilla Android looks kind of dead, dull.. Like it's lifeless. I would just like a complete overhaul of it's design. While it does look better than GB and earlier, it really lacks something special, can't really put it into words.
I'd like to see it a bit more animated, the lockscreen for instance (Completly love Sense4 Weather Lockscreen). + More customization to the phone answer screen. HTC has done a fantastic job, I'm using Sense 4 and I'm loving it, however Samsung & the others.. the answer screen looks completly hideous!

  89. I would like to change the Android OS by the way Android updates meaning that when Android updates, every device that use Android will update no matter which manufacture made the device with the given choice of update the Android OS as pure Android or update the Android OS with the OEM's skin (will take time for updates to release). Android also should make some sort of guideline for the minimum spec of a device should have so that every device WILL update for at least 2 years.

    ReplyDelete
  90. i see the future as a place where you can tell the device what to do in a easier way, they should work more on the glasses idea things you use more often so you get more info when you need it, and work on a platform that is in sync will all your devices, computer, cellphone, tablet, sunglasses, all in one roof, i dont like to change devices to do different thing, the padfone is a great idea but needs more work.

the best time of my life is when i deciden to support the htc owners here in costa rica, i love the company but i get no support whatsoever, i hack devices to install spanish to get rid of oem stuff like from att or t mobile, repairs is hard here, i have sent info to htc about the market and i want to sell htc devices here but no answer.
i would like to tell them that, they try to fight samsung and apple at the same time and they are in two different worlds.
htc should have 3 devices, flagship all balls out device 5 inches lcd , one in the middle4 inches lcd and one cheap 3 inches with the option to have WP or Android and maybe other OS, let them fight the OS fight, you can make awesome hardware, and pass along the updates as soon as they are available like apple do, that way is not hard to support old devices. if the device is 3 years old unlock it completely let the world play with them as the please, that way you will keep selling old devices every year.
build htc sense as a launcher, so even samsung devices will have it if the consumer wants it, sell it for $1, call audio technica and build the best sound in every device, no bullshit like beats , call nikon and build the best camera, you dont need to be the first only the best, dont tell us about an amazin device if its not available that same week, hype is high for the moment then nothing happens, that is bad very bad, you dont need to have 100 devices every year just a few but very well made, you dont need to have them all different same phone will work example htc one, amazing phone, now you have s3 and the s3 mini, s4 and the s4 mini, build one device have it 3 options htc one the best with the best you can offer and the best android have, second htc one in the middle of the spectrum, and the third htc one the cheap one of all, same design but 3 options, designing 20 devices all different every year is a pain, look apple same design make a lot of money, look samsung same design over and over in like 100 devices,
htc one is great but battery is not that good is you gonna have a non remobable battery make it a big one, no sd card, why? is not that hard, now in the cheap options ok fine but in the flagship why not? i will pay for the best and many will.
let google and MS fight the OS fight you concentrate in hardware you know better, you make good device,
remember the HD2? go back to the good old days, one device all balls out amazing piece of work, still one of the best of all time, every option there was back in the day you had it in there.

  91. 1. Defeating the fragmentation :) All devices are getting the latest version of Android in 24 hours after Google presentation. A bit of utopia here :D
    2. Love. It was difficult, but Trance music has changed my mind.

  92. I would bring back the ability to install apps to the SD card. Right now SD cards at only good for media which means 16gb phones are a bit of a pain even if they have SD card slots.

    ReplyDelete
  93. 1 - First and most of all i'd make it so the Android could be "installed" on every device with different hardware without being forced to change the Android itself, something like windows/linux on pc, you boot it to the cd and install it in every computer you want, without having to change the OS for it to be able to run on that device. That would single handedly terminate the android fragmentation, since anyone could just download a pure AOSP image from google and flash it in whatever device they have in a few painless steps. OFC there would still be room for customized ROMs, which add features and performance, and would make their work easier, since they could just add features and performance and it would work on a wide array of devices instead of having to port it to each device. That's, in my opinion, the worst of android.

2 - Back on 2010 when I switched from Symbian to the Galaxy S i9000, I finally saw "the light", I could do so much I couldn't back on the Symbian I was just amazed.

  97. I'm not really a techy guy but if you ask me what would I change in Android OS, I'd say the whole stock UI. Change it to Sense UI so that everything will be perfect and beautiful. Good Hardware probably needs a good LOOKING software UI.

The most important change in my life was when I chose HTC when I was looking for a smartphone even though i didn't know a thing about HTC. And. I fell in love with HTC ever since! ^^

    2. The most important change has been overcome shyness.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I just don't want anymore carrier bloatware. We should have the option to uninstall it without having to root and freeze the app and if we do want those apps then we can just download them. Most are unnecessary either way...

  105. 1) the change i would like to see in android is a universal update mechanism for all brands .. whether they force companies to not make any adjustments to the raw android firm ware or they work with these companies closely to release the updates on all the devices at the same time .. all androids should be one family ... the idea that every company push their updates on a different time frame makes it really weird because at the end of the day all are just Google android ..

2)the most important change ive had in my life is when my parents departed when i was 11 years old ... though of how harsh and shocking and scary ive grown up with a lot of meanings a lot of love and care that wouldnt have been their if i had a normal life ...

  114. Standardized messaging like iMessage. Love android's flexibility but would like to see messaging a little more standardized.

    ReplyDelete
  115. If there's anything I want to change on the Android, that would be compatibility. Now, android is basically just a mobile OS, but what if in the future, android would be used as an Operating system for your desktops? That would mean increased synchronization on different types of platforms, like how Apple does things but without as much restrictions.

BTW thanks for helping me on my CID problem the other day, I was literally sweating cold sweat by the taught of returning my already modified phone.

  118. Well, this is very personal, and it's the first time I write about it in a public internet comment, but.. the most important change in my life was (and still is) coming to terms and accepting my sexual orientation, not only because of the orientation itself but because it made me change and evolve everything in my life: from the most simple aspects like the movies I watched or the things I read, to the most complex like my university and studies choice, my friendships and the way I see the world in general.. it was completely eye-opening to realize that I was really different from most people (even 'gays', though I don't like the term) in more ways than one, and to understand that there's nothing wrong about it (on the contrary it couldn't be more right), to drop the guilt and self-destructive tendencies.. all of which helped me a lot to know myself much better and to have a way more intimate relationship with myself and with others, to have more of that 'emotional' intelligence that sometimes is really appreciated.. it probably even affected my smarphone choice a little bit, especially because they called Sense a 'holistic' intuitive experience, and I think it was and still is true: everything is easy and feels nice with Sense

    ReplyDelete
  119. I would like also (like some post above) avoid the Android Fragmentation, my Sensation stopped receiving update, but hopefully some talanted Dev's like Mike of course and others can bring us the latest versions of Android :)
And the only thing which changed a bit my life is the music i re-discovered the electronic music (Dubstep , DnB...) Before i listened a lot of RAP music, i got bored..

  123. 1. All android core apps like Phone, People , sms, System UI, Camera, Calende, Calculator, Browser, rshould be updated via play store. This will least ensure that legacy device can use latest core app. Also better RAM management for low end devices.

    ReplyDelete
  124. 2. What I would change is:
    - solving the fragmentation issue of Android, at least in recent devices.
    - changing the Android experience and UI to a more consistent and smooth one.. Some times I feel like android is a little bit inconsistent
    - Including an 'easy mode' that would allow people that are not 'tech people' to use it as easily as they use an iPhone. Because sometimes people feel confused by Android and overwhelmed by all the options that it has.

    ReplyDelete
  125. 1- More customization options in the pure Android and Google take into account the modifcations made by developers for future updates.

2- My transition from a Java-based OS to Android with the HTC Desire HD. It changed my life...

    ReplyDelete
  126. 1. Fragmentation is still one of the biggest issues with Android. My previous phone was the Motorola Atrix, and while its hardware was revolutionary for its time, the device's life was unfairly cut short due to poor support from the parent company. This is one of the good things about Apple--iOS is mostly the same across the board.

People asking for more customization are asking for Android to become more bloated IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I would like to see Android be better optimized for the devices it runs on. 141. I would like to see the following change in Android OS: I would like User Experience to take CPU priority over anything. What I mean is the smoothness of the scrolling in apps is jeopardised by other things going on in the background; such as loading up pictures (on Facebook for example, this causes judder while scrolling). My one and only gripe with Android (which I love, by the way) is that it's still not as smooth as iOS. I hate iOS, but one thing they have got right is the silky smoothness.

I would like for the devs to find a way to make Android snappier (maybe even make it run natively, without the Dalvik VM) and to also include a few business apps and widgets (i.e.: Google added QuickOffice for free, but we still don't have a tasks/to-do app with the same functionallity as Any.do from the Google/Android Dev Team).

    2. The change of my life is when I went to japan for an exchange for half a year. I've come home a different person, and I feel I am able to help anyone out there.

  155. 1- I would like Google and Android System to secure the application, by controlling them before publication. I think this is the only problem on the platform, compared to iOS or Windows Phone. Moreover, there are more and more persons using Android, and in fine, it can be an huge security problem. That's why, according to me, HTC, Samsung and others would have to update their smartphones quickly, when a new version is developed, just like iOS, or Windows Phone.
The segmentation on the market between lot of versions of Android is getting more and more catastrophic for Android, and developers...

It's better than any other Mobile OS, even of iOS, this one has just better design/speed because it's not fragmented, there're just a few device to develop on!.. Android works on any kind of device and it has a convenient program language and a lot of support to app developers, HTC first of all, which let you unlock the bootloader!
