HTC battery bank short review

Lately I've been using one of the best phone accessory I've ever had. And the funny part is, I didn't suspect it to be that great. But let's start from the beginning!

Full name of that red & black little thing is "HTC External Battery Bank for all Micro USB Handsets".

What is so great about it? In simple words - it's small and can save your butt in many situations. The capacity of 6000 mAh is enough for full two charges. What is more - due to dual charging port - USB port and micro USB port - it's compatible with most new smartphones.

It's quite small (9,7 x 4,2 x 2,2) so you can take with you everywhere. Not really useful when you are in the car (better to use car charger) but quite handy in the train, bus, boring lecture or long day trip outside the city.

At the top you'll find a button. Once pressed, the lights in front of the battery bank will indicate how much power left inside. Very nice!

As I wrote before, the size is great, but as most of you probably think - things can always get smaller! I don't know if it's possible to make such battery bank smaller (at least now) but the current size should not be an issue. If you have enough space to carry 4-inch screen device or bigger, then you surely will find extra space for this external battery bank.

When battery bank is discharged, simply plug it to any device with USB port (can be notebook) or regular charger. It will take few hours to full charge, but afterwards it's ready to be your lifelong companion!

Described battery bank comes with a micro USB cable with a length of 15cm. What I really miss here is some kind of holder for that cable integrated with the battery bank. Some simple plastic holdfast would be really great and wont take much space. HTC, maybe something worth to consider?

  1. I use similar bank:

and I find it very useful for my HTC One X. It does two full charges as well, so no more worries, that you ran out of energy in middle of nowhere.

  2. I use this one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lightning-Sensation-cellphone-connectors-customized/dp/B0063AAIRG) with my HTC One X+ and I keep it in my bag when I'm at school and such I don't have to worry or conserve my useage due to battery life concerns. I use it nearly all the time :)

  5. i also use an external charger, an Serioux PowerBank 5600mAhbut the main think here is elswhere

wouldnt be greater if HTC will put bigger batteries in theier phons even sacrificing the Slim factor

for some years even Samsung is always better in battery capacity , not buy much but it may counts and you can also change the battery...is almost like you carry the external charger with you...but with no extra cords attached

for more than two years i have Desire HD which btw it was a great phone...but also an heavy one...my GF SGS2 from plastic is slimmer and thinner the point is i am ok to have an NEW heavier phone with a big battery...the DHD is almost as heavy as Note 2...not to mention what battery has an note 2

in conclusion. instead of carry an external charger i think manny of us will like an Heavier phone but with bigger battery

    1. Very good point! I like the conclusion very much. Actually, the size of the external banks are quite huge when you compare it directly to the size of the internal battery, but even making the current internal batteries capacity double, such device would be still much easier to carry then phone + external battery bank.

    2. Yes, I agree. Now I have an Note 2 (with ARHD v14 by the way) and the thing that I love about that is the battery!!! I don't even care about the size of that thing, and yes the Note 2 size could be hideous to almost everybody. In the past none of the smartphone give me more than 8-9 hours of middle/light use (Moto Q, Q9c, Evo 4G, Galaxy ACE, Galaxy Young, Galaxy SII) but now the Note 2 lasts 18hours without any recharge!! And because of that, without been afraid of ran out of battery, I use the phone even more than before.

  6. Hi mike1986, are you about the capacity of 6000mAh? i can't find the HTC Battery Bank with that amount of capacity. Just one with 3000mAh (http://www.amazon.de/HTC-External-Batterie-microUSB-Handset/dp/B007AE0VTY) ...? :/

    Best Regards Tozu

    2. Its currently on back order on the HTC website so it would probably be hard to find in the US. (( http://shopamerica.htc.com/accessories/productdetail.htm?prId=41632&search=battery ))
