HTC One X is one of the very few (if not the only one) devices from HTC which reached 4.xx.xxx.x software version (4.18.491.2). This only proves how great this device still is and how many users are still actively using it. Today HTC One X users are receiving one of the most important update - Android 4.2.2 with HTC Sense 5.0. Last summer HTC did similar update, upgrading HTC One X with Android 4.1.1 from Android 4.0.4 and bumping HTC Sense from 4.0 to so called "4+". However, HTC Sense 4.0/4+ update wasn't that significant and didn't bring so many new features and improvements as HTC Sense 5.0.
The new update includes well known HTC BlinkFeed™ (available firstly only on HTC One), native Android Quick Settings and completely re-designed HTC Sense interface. Two features are missing from HTC One - HTC BoomSound™ and HTC Zoe™. Unfortunately, both are hardware related. BoomSound™ obviously needs dual speakers audio system, and HTC Zoe™ was created to work with small pictures taken with UltraPixel camera - which allows user to take excellent pictures in natural conditions using only 4 mega pixels resolution in pair with dedicated HTC ImageChip™ 2.
As you can see, there is a changelog attached to the OTA notification, however it is just a "commercial" changelog - that means there are a lot of different changes/improvements under the hood. Android 4.2.2 update brought a lot of changes itself, not to mention new HTC Sense 5.0 features, further optimization in SoC drivers and kernel related improvements.
The new update for HTC One X looks great and surely will bring some fresh air to the device. HTC One X+ already received HTC Sense 5.0 update few days ago, however it was only Taiwanese update so far. Below you can see HTC BlinkFeed screen together with Android Quick Settings on latest HTC One X 4.18.401.2 software.

amazing news for all of us HTC one x users. Looking forward for your future Rom mike :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, amazing news... if you want a show piece for your showcase. You can show it to people and say "Hey! phone used to once upon a time!!". The update has screwed up all the "smart"phone features. A basic phone(not so "smart" phones) has more working features.
Deleteplease tell me that this stupid update can be reversed, i hate it, changed the entire look and feel of the phone. phone works the same, but changed the feel of it

ReplyDeleteciao ho comprato da poco un htc one x usato con rom android revolution hd 20.0 by mike 1986 .
ReplyDeletecome aggiornare questa rom o ritornare alla rom originale . non capisco niente di rom mi servo aiuto grazie
when HTC One X+ get 4.2.2 & sense 5?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the most straightforward way of upgrading to ARHD 31.1? I'm running ARHD 9.7.2 (I haven't touched my phone custom rom-wise in a long time..).
ReplyDeleteIf i'm right it is:
1) Backup apps with titanium backup
2) Upgrade HBOOT
3) Install ARHD 31.1 (It says data wipe is optional if coming from earlier version....but it 9.7.2 too far back?)
4) Restore apps with titanium backup (?)
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm so clueless as it's been quite a while...
Yeah 9.7.2 - I had that on my One X for ages too! Back up your phones apps and data with Titanium Backup, then get your phone to stock ROM before upgrading Hboot. Get the correct Ice Cream Sandwich stock from here (http://www.androidruu.com/?developer=Endeavor) and then upgrade Hboot
DeleteHelp for upgrading Hboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221171
Once you have the latest Hboot and are onto Jelly Bean, put the correct ARHD boot image onto your phone and the ARHD ROM then flash. Good luck.
"Once you have the latest Hboot and are onto Jelly Bean" - By that do you mean after the HBOOT is updated (to 1.36?), update manually to the stock JB rom before flashing with ARHD?
Delete- I miss the stock taskmanager in the new update.
ReplyDelete- It's also impossible to zoom out your screens like you did with tapping home on your homescreen.
- It's not possible anymore to sweep all around your screens. From the fifth to the first with sweeping left.
- If you search for an application and you are in the middle of your application list in the menu, you can't search. You have to go to the top of the applications, and then you can search through your applications.
But it's a nice new interface, except of this (little) things.
Was happy, updated to 4.2.2 and now my camera is not working.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone had the same problem, and solution maybe?
In my case, I did a 3-4 Factory Resets and now everything is working.
DeleteResets were done with erasing all files option.
i have problem with my camera too. it tends to hang and sometimes fail to work until i restart it.
Deleteya same at my end camera is not working.
ReplyDeleteyou got any solution for camera.. i thnk camera driver i causing problem..
ReplyDeletecamera and compass not working here.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I always update? Last update I did, my wireless for some reason seemed a lot weaker and now with the latest update, my camera also doesn't work, comes on for roughly 2 seconds and goes back to the home screen, so annoying. Other apps do work with the camera but I want the original one to work as it's much better. I hope HTC brings out a fix soon.
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention, I did multiple factory resets and it never worked, even before I restored my data, even deleted all my internal files too. Even tried in Safe mode without luck. Make sure you take a backup if you do a factory reset though.
DeleteI have exactly the same problem.
DeleteHi, I would like to know how could I flash this ROM or Update. I have a HTC One X AT&T. I was trying to flash the Android Revolution HD 31. but it stop at 30%.
ReplyDeleteHello, I updated my HTC one x with this software version but I'm not satisfied. Can you please help me how can I restore my previous version of Software. Please mail me on mdfirdouskhan.mca09@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteThanks
Were you successful in reverting back? I pretty annoyed at these changed. Not what I brought the phone for. All the things I liked in the phone are gone. @ps4matt
DeleteAmazing news, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow is this amazing news? Users hate the update and it's caused technical faults in our phones...
DeleteIs there any way to undo the update?
ReplyDeleteCan this update be removed? I have had serious problems connecting to Wi-Fi since updating. Can't even connect in own kitchen. No problems before update.
ReplyDeleteThis update has near bricked my phone. Can't get past htc logo. Can get to dev page. Reboot + factory reset doesn't work, once they complete phone just returns to same state where it cant boot past htc logo. Any ideas ??
ReplyDeleteis there any way to go back for sense 4+ ???
ReplyDeleteHTC please fix the Camera issue.
ReplyDeleteMy camera is not at all functional after the upgrade. This is a complete show stopper for which my device is not able to make us of the Camera.
The HTC One X was one of the best phones on the market, until the update to 4.2.2! Now its probably the worse one on the market! Before you scrolled through the apps, sideways, now its up and down! Why? And its not a smooth scroll now either. You can't save apps to the internal memory now! And you can't move them between the phone memory and internal memory either! WHY? So, you have 25GB sitting there that you can't use. And then of the 6GB of the phone memory over 4GB is used by pre-installed files and apps!?!? WHY? And if that wasn't bad enough, try making a call... When you figure out how to get the right number and person up, try pressing the BIG Green CALL button! Nothing happens!!! To make the call you have to touch the Name and Number, in white half way up the screen... WHY?!?! This "Update" IS Utter Rubbish...
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Worst decision I've ever made to update. My phone now looks cheap and it's not as easy to use...
DeleteTotally agree, I didn't buy a product 12 months ago for features to be removed or totally change later. Utter crap, why can't we still choose the previous look and layout. This was why I moved away from Apple's products.
DeleteHello, I updated my HTC one x with this software version but I'm not satisfied. Can you please help me how can I restore my previous version of Software. Please mail me on mehr_shamsi@hotmail.com

DeleteHas anyone been advised if they can return to the previous system...? I just updated today and I hate it. Want to go back to previous version..
ReplyDeleteHi this update is rubbish, is there a way to get the the old one back? Please
ReplyDeletethis upgrade is causing One X Camera not to work. please reply if Someone know the solution..
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE PLEASE advise how to undo this update - my wonderful HTC one X is now pretty worthless, Hate the "upgrade" and want to be able to use my smartphone again - have no wireless internet now.
ReplyDeleteSame here, I'm ready to throw my mobile in the bin, worst decision ever accepting the upgrade. I now have no wireless, no bluetooth, no icons for net etc, no apps. I can sms and receive calls, makes this phone useless. I wont be buying an HTC again.
ReplyDeleteIs there a solution to the camera issue as yet?
ReplyDeleteMy camera isn't workin at all. I can't take photos and can't view my photos in the gallery. Totally useless. Please tell me if I can undo the update. Email westerlea1@gmail.com please.
ReplyDeleteI want to revert. Dialing is a real hassle. Have to almost spell out a whole contact name, where before it gave a drop down prdictive kind of list. Useless damned phone now.
ReplyDeleteANY SOLUTIONS TO THE CAMERA ISSUE?
ReplyDeleteMy phone just updated to this.
ReplyDeleteThis update is terrible. I want to go back SO BADLY. Do not do this update. I want to throw my phone away. I'd rather have an iphone right now...
